Planning Your Visit

  • How to get there?

It isn't possible to visit the reserve without an approved tour group, so look out for tour operators that provide transfers from your hotel or the city center. Otherwise you can only reach the reserve by car via the E66, which starts out as the Dubai-Al Ain Road between Downtown Dubai and the Ras al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary.

  • What to bring?

The desert is, of course, very exposed to sunlight, so bring sunglasses, suitable headwear, and plenty of sunscreen! You'll need to use a lot of the latter so bring moisturizer to stop your skin drying out. If you're bringing an expensive camera then make sure it's protected against the sand (waterproofing also works!), and bring a water bottle even if your tour operator is providing it, just in case. Also, do NOT wear closed leather shoes!

Good to know

  • When should I visit?
The desert is there day and night, so it all depends on when you schedule your tour!
  • Is it expensive?
Depends on the experience you are seeking, but prices usually start around $100 per person.
  • Will I need a guide?
    Definitely.
  • How to get there
Your chosen tour guide will take you there in a private van from the city.
  • Additional information
Eat lightly before your excursion. The bumpy ride across the dunes can make some people feel queasy!

It is not often that I write reviews but the amazing experience that we've had deserves a million reviews. Before we purchased the tickets, we've read all the reviews and had high expectations (obviously) and to our surprise, all our expectations were not just met but were exceeded far beyond. The amount of joy that we've experienced throughout the day just cannot be put into words. We got to the camp just in time before sunset. The views were breathtaking. After enjoying the sunset, we've enjoyed the free activities at the camp like camel riding, henna painting, shisha smoking, and a lot more. At the end of the night, the last thing that you do is enjoy the stargazing in the dark. As a final treat, the camp will go dark, giving you the opportunity to take in the peaceful ambiance of a desert night before being returned to your accommodation in Dubai. No need to say that that was a cherry on top of all the other cherries :) Just amazing.

One of the best attractions! Everything was amazing; the desert; the people, the food, but the most important was the guide Yasir; from the first moment he connected with us as we were best friends and began to tell stories about Dubai, to make jokes, to help you and make pictures at every attraction; a warm and kind person which you need for a 7 hours trip; he was amazing! Thank you Yasir for a extraordinary day! You made this trip to be spectacular!

We had a great experience. Yassir was our guide and he was amazing and super attentive. He was always around to take pictures for us, advise us on things to do and was overall lovely to speak to. The tour included so many activities that we enjoyed very much. Definitely great value for what you pay.

It eas one of the best activities we did so far. Exiting and definitely memorable experience. We were lucky our guide Yasir was a great guy, who speaks english very well and has a lot of interesting information to share to make your trip even more interesting. Would recommend!
