Full description
After meeting your certified glacier guide at the Skaftafell Terminal Tour Center, you will be given all the required glacier and safety equipment. From there, ride in a modified 4x4 Land Rover Defender to the base of the glacier. Here you will be instructed on how to use and wear the glacier gear before starting your hike towards the blue ice cave.
Your guide will safely lead you over the lower part of Falljökull and onto Virkisjökull where you will spend the rest of the tour. You will pass multiple moulins, crevasses, and other stunning features of the glacier and hear multiple stories of the glaciers and surrounding area before reaching an incredibly blue ice tunnel.
Your group will have 15-30 minutes at the cave, giving you plenty of time to take in the surreal beauty before starting the descent down the glacier. After the hike back down the glacier, you will be driven safely back to the meeting point.
